5 out of 5 stars KOHLER is great mechanically as well as looks   February 8, 2008

I've installed a number of faucets. None have been a breeze like this.

The Hot/Cold flexable hoses attached to the faucet have 3/8" female threads. On one hand this was great (no messing around with copper pipes as I've had in the past). On the other, I had to use a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter for my hookup.

The bottom of the faucet that connects to the counter top (I used it with an undermount sink, but you can use it with a surface mount sink too) had a really good rubber seal to stop leaks. Fastening it was easy using their mechanism, requiring only a screwdriver (no fiddling around with a large wrench in a tight space).

Finally the hose for the pull-out spray is the best design I've seen so far. Which is good, because I've found this is the one thing that has leaked on cheap faucets. It has a weight that fastens to the end of the hose to make returning the spray back to it's position very natural.

The black button on the top of the spray head to change from spray to stream was a nice touch :)

We had new Corian counter tops installed and choose this faucet as a replacement for our old faucet. We really like the clean look. The faucet's one touch spray or stream feature works very well. The pullout feature works as expected. The faucet being new we have no idea how it will hold up over the years but would expect with Kohler's reputation and the price paid it should last for many years. Very satisified!

5 out of 5 stars A snap to install - (once you get the old faucet out)   December 8, 2009

We bought this to replace a Hans Grohe faucet that was installed in 1992. The Grohe was also a single handle white faucet and was an expensive faucet that served well for 17 years. About a month ago I noticed that the water pressure had dropped in that faucet while all others in the house were fine. I understand that this is usually caused by small particles of sediment and such clogging the cartridge. A replacement cartridge for this old faucet was somewhere north of $75.00 and we decided to replace it.

Since we needed a white faucet and liked the single handle with pull out faucet, our options were limited to about 18 in a reasonable price range. We went with the Kohler k-15160 after reading many positive reviews. It arrived in great shape and with good instructions. Getting the old Grohe out took me 6 hours of trying to loosen the retaining nut under the sink in cramped conditions and little access using a hammer and long screwdriver to s-l-o-w-l-y manage to turn it about 6 revolutions. After this frustration I found that I had loosened it enough to slip a hacksaw between the base of the faucet and the escutcheon. About 45 minutes later I had sawed through it and had it out! I decided on a few fingers of Jameson's on the rocks and a good night sleep before installing the Kohler. The next morning I dreaded positioning myself under the sink again but was amazed how easily the faucet installed. It was in and running without leaks in less than 45 minutes.

The faucet looks great and works smoothly and flawlessly. I especially like the longer handle that it has compared to the old Grohe, it is very easy to work and set to any temperature or flow. The pull out spout works very well also, the Grohe was made of metal and was awkward to position around the sink and return to the retracted position. The Kohler pulls out effortlessly and feels much lighter; it has a swivel between the hose and spout which makes reaching any corner of the sink a breeze. The spray is operated by the black buttons on top of the spout with the front of the switch turning the spray on and just behind that the button to turn it off.

I looks great and has a solid quality feel. It is all metal (I read in one review somewhere that the spout was plastic...not so). The only plastic is the black rubber-like strip covering the spray on-off buttons. We are very pleased with our choice. Just consider how old and accessible your old faucet is to remove before tackling the installation yourself.

I bought this to replace one that had been given to me that wouldn't stay together and leaked about every 4 weeks. The water line inside the flexible hose under the sink kept popping off the fitting. After having a plumber look at the way the old one went together and being told it was a design flaw I decided to replace it with this Kohler. The faucet installed quickly and looks gorgeous! This one has a more secure connection in the flexible hose to keep the water line in place. Its water line connections are shorter than the previous one so I had to get extensions to connect it without stressing the lines. The flexible hose is also shorter, but that just means it can't catch on the pipes and knobs under the sink which is part of what caused the old one to come apart. The weight on the flexible hose is also different. The old one had a doughnut-shaped weight that moved along the hose. The Kohler's weight attaches to a single spot and stays there. It doesn't slide along the hose like the old one which I think may also have contributed to the leak problem.

It's been installed now for just over a month, and there have been no problems and no leaks so far. Its operation is also smoother than the one it replaced, both for turning it off and on and changing water temperature. One difference I've had to get used to is the old one automatically reverted to stream whenever the water was turned off. This one stays in whichever mode you put it until you change it. Turn the water off with it set to spray, and it will still be set to spray when you turn it back on. It's just different from what I was used to, but I think I like it better.

Between the faucet itself and Amazon's great price on it, I am very, very pleased with my purchase of this Kohler faucet.

I replaced a lousy Moen fixture that was leaking with this Kohler fixture. Once I got the Moen fixture out with considerable difficulty, the Kohler fixture was easy to install and works great. I would highly recommend this fixture.
