Pretty damn good! April 19, 2008 A. Sturgess (Detroit, MI) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Let me be the tiebreaker here between the one good review and the one bad. This is a very nice faucet. Good looks, strong flow, handy pull down spray dispenser. The correct placement of the included counterweight should prevent any retraction problems with the pull down nozzle. I can't speak to the soap dispenser's effciency since I was satisfied with my existing one and left it in but I am very pleased with this unit and would recommend it.
The pullout feature is awesome June 13, 2008 Jason M. Lee (Summerville, GA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have installed this faucet in my own house and consider it to be to the best investment in my kitchen. Since this purchase I have also added price pfister pullout faucets in my bathrooms as well. They are so handy and helpful in keeping things tidy and I love to wash my hair with it as well. Money wisely spent.
I LOVED THIS FAUCET - BUT... October 29, 2009 Happy Mom (NJ, USA) I have owned this faucet for 5 years. Other than the fact that if you have it on too low of a water pressure it does turn off by itself, I couldn't have been happier with it's looks or function. Be careful though, I noticed last night that there were green flecks in my water in my pot. I immediately ran to the bathroom to see if it was a water control issue. Nope. I then cleaned the sprayer with vinegar which i do regularly. Better - but still green flecks. I then had my husband pull the sprayer apart and inside we found that the silver lining was flaking off of the plastic inside! YIKES - I have a 4 month old infant, and I'm scared to death that even though I boil his water I don't know how long that lining has been coming off. I immediately called Price Pfister and their customer service is amazing. I told them it was just the sprayer part but they said no they would send a whole new faucet, as a matter of fact if I preferred they would let me pick any other faucet that I liked so that I wouldn't worry about it possibly happening again. They are call tagging the old faucet, which I'm very glad so that if it is a more widespread problem they will be able to alert their consumers or fix whatever caused the issue. I chose the Hanover, but I do really love the Contempra - i just don't want to take the chance that it may happen again. Truly though, I can't say enough about their customer service, I will happily purchase from them in the future when we redo our bathrooms as well.
Good value for the money. December 24, 2008 D. Joesph 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Faucet design is a matter of taste, but I think this one is among the nicest looking in the same category of faucets. I am not a big fan of the feature that requires you to turn the water off and then back on to switch off the spray feature, but that's not a deal breaker for me. In terms of other features and performance, I have no complaints. I did have one easily resolvable problem though.
After owning the faucet for a little over a year, I started to expereince dripping under the sink, below the handle section. I think this is similar to the problem reported by a previous reviewer here who seemed to needlessly buy a whole new faucet as a result. I called Price Pfister about the problem and was very impressed with their customer service. When I called the 1-800 customer service number, I got through to an agent quickly and explained the problem. The agent said there is an easily replaceable cartridge that fits inside the handle, and this cartridge was the culprit of the leak. So they sent me an improved, redesigned cartridge (part #: 974-035) and a new brass retainer nut (part # 941-7110) to replace the older parts which originally shipped with the faucet. Since the faucet is covered under their 10 year warranty, these replacement parts were sent to me free of charge -- I paid just $5 for shipping and got them within a few days. Replacing this cartridge and retainer ring in the handle was extremely easy, and the instructions for doing this are included with the original faucet or they can be found on the Price Pfister web site. Replacing these parts does not involve getting under your sink. You just pop off the faucet handle after loosening with an allen wrench and then unscrew a retainer ring. The cartridge pulls right out (and be sure to pull out the washer too if that doesn't come up with the old cartridge). Problem solved.
As far as I can tell, comparable faucets are at least $100 more than this one, and in some cases they are not nearly as attractive. Unless the thought bothers you of possibly being out $5, for an easily replaceable part, and 5 minutes of your time, in the event this handle leak is even common, then I would definitely recommend this faucet. NOTE: I purchased this faucet a couple years ago, so it's possible that the improved cartridge ships with newly purchased faucets anyway.
I've never had an issue with the handle as one reviewer reported, but if I did I would not hesitate to call Price Pfister for a replacement part. Any faucet has the potential to break, and so a good warranty which allows for free replacement parts, good customer service and a design that allows for easy replacement by the customer are all pluses in my book.
The best kitchen faucet I've seen October 3, 2006 Tom Pfeiffer (Irving, TX USA) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
This faucet is by far the nicest and most functional I've ever used (mine is now about 2 years old). The pull out sprayer is amazingly useful and really handy. After 2 years, no drips, no problems. I would have given it 5 stars except for 2 things: the included soap dispenser dribbles for days after you use it (and I've had it replaced once) and the sprayer is somewhat awkward because once you set it to spray, you have to turn off the water to stop spray and go back to a stream.
I'd still buy it again in a minute.
